Join us for the 2024 Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling season! All wrestlers, ages 8-18 are welcome. Younger wrestlers should have at least 3 years experience and a similar-size partner first.
Practice schedule March 26 – May 23:
- Tuesdays 5:30-7:00 at ALHS
- Wednesdays 5:30-7:00 at ALHS
- Thursdays 6:00-7:30 at Elyria High School (optional)
Cost is $175. USA Wrestling (full athlete) membership is required.
The most complete wrestlers take advantage of every opportunity to develop and learn. One way young wrestlers can do that is by participating in and practicing the Olympic styles of wrestling—freestyle and Greco-Roman. The top programs all teach Freestyle and Greco-Roman and we’re excited to offer it now in Avon Lake.
ALHS Head Wrestling Coach, Scott Sedlick will be teaching the different rules and moves of the Olympic styles starting March 26. Practices will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays at ALHS. We’ve also been invited to join Elyria for their Thursday practices at Elyria High School.
There are optional qualifying tournaments and a state tournament in May. Even if your wrestler doesn’t compete in a tournament, just learning some of the moves will be beneficial.
